Amicus develops customized software
and database management systems for physicians and clinical
researchers. Our staff is familiar with the typical
data management issues faced by medical practitioners
and researchers, and with applicable regulatory requirements,
e.g., HIPAA.
Database Management Systems
Since 1999, we have developed several databases and customized solutions for several departments at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, including Pulmonary & Critical Care, Orthopedic Surgery, Nathans-McKusik Institute of Genetic Medicine, etc.
For example, Amicus developed a Patient Database system for the Sleep Disorders Center at Hopkins. The client/server system running on Windows NT replaced an outdated Y2K non-compliant DOS system. The database includes demographics, appointments, clinical and laboratory data, and information on referring physicians,. A key element of the program is a rule-based module for interpretation of laboratory results and generation of reports. Since then, we have developed programs for generating reports and archiving Somnologica data, and have managed the servers and workstations for the Center.
Customized Programs
Amicus implemented a data acquisition and control system
for a research laboratory. The work included installation
of an analog-to-digital converter, and programs for
data acquisition, analysis, and control of the experimental
setup used for animal research studies.
We also developed programs for automating
the extraction of data from archived clinical reports
into databases.
Our software development experience
extends to the line of PaperChase products by Amicus.
OMR "Bubble" Surveys
Amicus has developed "bubble" survey forms
for research data collection, and programs for importing
data from OMR scanners into databases.
